Our Members & Meetings
Meetings are typically the 1st Monday of the month at the library in the meeting room on the lowest level, with a Google Meet virtual option available. See the Town website Events Calendar for the details, including the agenda for the next meeting. All members of the public are welcome. See meeting minutes.
Committee members apply and are appointed to three-year terms by the Select Board.
Before applying, review our committee's charge document and when you apply, include information about how your interests and experience align with what's in the charge, in particular, the Qualifications section. Contact us for any questions or additional information you may need.
To apply for membership, see the town website.
Workgroups: Our committee members get most of their work done as part of smaller working groups (subcommittees) where members (with volunteers) can focus on specific aspects of sustainability. The workgroups may change over time but currently are as follows, with a description of the focus:
Climate Action Plan - the overall plan for reducing greenhouse gases
Buildings - more sustainable structures, including heat pumps, insulation, design, using Mass Save, etc.
Green Energy - the town's municipal aggregation plan, solar panels, etc.
Transportation - EVs, public transport, walking and biking, responsible plane travel, etc.
Zero Waste - rethink, refuse reduce, reuse, recycle including via composting to reduce trash
Environment - protecting water and land through safer practices and products, including through lawn care and gardening practices and use of safer products
Outreach - supporting all working groups and the overall committee to communicate with the public via events, the website, social media, newsletters, and other practices
If committing to board membership is not for you at this time, you may want to instead attend our meetings or volunteer with us. We can do much more with volunteers! Contact hopgreenma@gmail.com about volunteering.
